John is also a keen golfer having learnt the game at Royal Portrush on the North coast of Ireland.  He would play 4 rounds a day, plus some extra holes if he could fit them in, during the school holidays.  He still plays and is a member of Dudsbury Golf Club near his home in Christchurch, Dorset where he has lived for the past 16 years.  He has held a single figure handicap for the last 25 years and has played golf in such paradises as Phuket in Thailand, Dubai at night, all over Europe including France, Wales, Belgium, and Spain.  He is a past Captain of Crane Valley GC in Verwood, Dorset and is a member of the Dorset Captains Golf Society.  He founded the Bournemouth Airport Golf Society in 1993 and still organises meetings seven times a year at various clubs in Dorset and Hampshire.

County Sound Radio in Guildford and Ocean Sound at Fareham are on John’s CV too.  He was your local radio DJ at those two stations for a couple of years.  You may well have heard his evening programme in Guildford and the Saturday morning show on Ocean Sound.  This experience has made him into an excellent speaker about his subject, which he puts across in a jovial, entertaining way.
